Wallace Ray Blankenship
October 4, 1942 - July 12, 2020 Wallace Ray Blankenship, 77, of Sycamore, IL passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. He was born October 4, 1942 in Holden, WV the son of Ed and Ellen (Estep) Blankenship. He was united in marriage to Elsie Mullins April 2, 1965 in Chicago, IL. Wally was a graduate of Lenore High School, Class of 1961. He was drafted and served in the United States Army for a short time. He was employed for more than 30 years with United Airlines and was a proud member of the International Association of Machinists Union. Wally’s family was his greatest joy. He loved spending time with them and especially loved planning fun vacations and excursions with his grandchildren. Wally touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He was generous of his love and time with his friends and family. Wallace is survived by his loving wife Elsie, his children, Christina Flores of DeKalb, Ray (Nicole) Blankenship of St. Charles, and Deanna Blankenship, of DeKalb; four grandchildren, Carmen Flores, Sara Flores, Lauren Blankenship and Emma Blankenship; a brother Matthew Blankenship and three sisters, Mary Christian, Sue (Tommy) Curry, Stephanie (James) Wills and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Bob and Bill Blankenship, Dorothy King and a brother who died at infancy. Wally’s memorial service will be held at a later date. |
