Wanita Jean Chevalier passed away on February 1st, 2022. She was born September 17th, 1928, in Worthington, Ohio. In life Nita was passionate about her faith, family, music, education, and exploring the world. She graduated from Ohio’s Capital University in 1951 and received her Master’s degree from Northern Illinois University in 1977. Professionally she was a church organist, special education teacher, and prolific volunteer, but none of those titles come close to capturing her incredible spirit. She was kindness itself to all she met, especially those with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Those lucky enough to have known her will forever cherish Nita’s warmth, wit, and effortless charm. She is survived by her sister, Shirley (John) Miller; children, Martha Cannon, son, James (Kimberly) Chevalier, and son-in-law Louis Mascari; as well as grandchildren, Matt and Ben Cannon, Stella, Hanna and Joe Mascari, and Jake and Claire Chevalier. She was preceded in death by husband Jean and daughter Mary Chevalier Mascari. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to, The Benevolent Care Fund at Holmstad, or the Greater Chicago Ferret Association. |
