DANNY M. STOREY

Date of Birth

February 22, 1956

Date of Death

July 27, 2024

Danny M. Storey, 68, of Naperville, IL, passed away suddenly surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, July 27, 2024. He was born on February 22, 1956 in Wyandotte, Michigan, to parents Howard, I and Nannie Storey (nee Mims).

He grew up in down river Michigan, with his six siblings, where he attended local schools.  At the age of 13 he started his own landscaping company.  He mowed and landscaped many of his neighbor’s yards as well as others across the local area. He was never afraid of hard work and had a strong work ethic from a young age.  His tenacious and uplifting attitude allowed his business to grow exponentially.

Danny met the love of his life, Debbie, in December of 2001 at a company get together for Inland Property Management.  Danny was smitten with Debbie from their first conversation.  Their first date was at Steven’s Restaurant in Woodridge, IL.  It didn’t take long for either of them to realize that they had something special; they married the following year in May of 2002.

He worked for over 18 years as a Foreman for Federal Pipe and Steel.  He loved his job and never missed a day of work.  He took great pride in his work as a foreman, watching over the shop floor and taking care of his day-to-day tasks. After working in steel for many decades, he pivoted his focus to property management. He worked for Inland Property Management, managing varies apartment communities until he retired at the age of 62.  Not only did he manage the properties, but he took the time to get to know all of the tenants on a first name basis.  He always wanted them to know that he was there for whatever they needed and personally took it upon himself to make sure that any issues that arose were handled in a timely manner.

Danny was the life of the party; you could always find him out on the dance floor surrounded by his family and friends.  He had a magnetic spirit about him which people were easily drawn to.  He loved to meet new people and never knew a stranger.  His family and friends knew him as a man of his word, who would drop whatever he was doing to help someone in need. In his down time, he enjoyed travelling back to Michigan to visit family, going on cruises, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a family man, and his family meant the world to him.  He was a shoulder to lean on for many in his life and was always ready and willing to listen.  Danny truly lived with no regrets and his vibrant, outgoing, and compassionate nature will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Danny leaves behind his wife, Debra Storey; his children: Timothy (Megan) Storey, Chuck (Angel) Mullins, Jarrod (Shelli) Mullins, Angie (Eric) Smith, Lisa (John) Campbell-Gergits, and Thomas Campbell; his grandchildren: Andrew Storey, Sophia Mullins, Jude Mullins, River Mullins, Marissa (Jesse) DiMauro-Materazzi, Tristyn LeMarr, Caleb LeMarr, Eric Smith, Lucas Smith, John Gergits, Jr., Cynthia Gergits, Peyton Campbell, and Tommy Jarosz; his great grandchildren: Maurizio DiMauro and Francesco DiMauro; his siblings: Karen Storey-Gilleland,  Sharen (Jim) Mangiameli, Sandra (Mike) Storey-DeFord, and Tim (Stephanie) Storey; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and a whole family of friends.

He is reunited with his parents, Howard Glen, I and Nannie Storey; his siblings: Howard Glen (Betty) Storey, II and Marjorie Storey-Thomas.

Services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Danny’s name. Checks may be made to the “Danny Storey Memorial” and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, 60119. Tributes may also be forwarded to the same address, the Conley Funeral Home Facebook Page, or at www.conleycare.com.
