UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION:

A visitation to celebrate her memory will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 12-3 p.m. at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn. Interment will follow the service at Baker Cemetery, Maple Park.

DeNelda “Nellie” Ramm, age 84, of Maple Park, IL, passed away, Tuesday, February 2, 2021, supported by the love and prayers of her family.

She was born November 18, 1936, in Waukegan, IL, to loving parents, Robert and Wanda Boxley.

Nellie grew up in Fox Lake, IL and attended local schools. She graduated from Grant High School with the class of 1954. Later the family moved to Elgin, IL and worked at Gromer’s Supermarket for a time.

Nellie had an active social life and loved to cut a rug at the Blue Moon. It was there that she caught the eye of Bob Ramm. He swept her off her feet, both figuratively and sometimes literally, until waltzing down the aisle on June 9, 1962. They began their new life on the family farm on Ramm Rd where they worked as hard as they played. They were blessed with two daughters, Rachel and Denise, which made their family complete. In later years, and in addition to being a fulltime wife and mother, Nellie wore many hats working part-time with several local businesses.

Nellie was a past member of the Lily Lake Congregational Church.

She was a life-long Cub’s fan, proudly wearing the blue and red and participating in fantasy baseball. Nellie coached girls’ softball for many years and was an avid golfer for a time. When she wasn’t on the golf course, Nellie enjoyed her time in the garden. The kitchen is where she ruled and was an excellent cook, as well as baker. A social butterfly, Nellie enjoyed playing cards and spending time with a countryside full of farmers and friends. It was the time with family that she treasured most and those memories will be shared still, for generations to come.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Bob Ramm; two daughters: Denise (Chris) Lenz and Rachel (Glenn) Hofer; two grandchildren: Claude and John Lenz; step-granddaughter, Leigh Ann (Jake) Tysiak; two siblings: Silvia (Fred) Sassone and Jim (Julie) Boxley; sister-in-law, Charlene Ramm; several nieces, nephews and a special friend and caregiver, Cindy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Wanda Boxley, one brother Robert Boxley and a brother-in-law, John Ramm.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Tributes and memories may be left on the Conley Funeral Home Facebook Page, or at www.conleycare.com where you can find her full life story.
