Dow, Age 83 of St. Charles, passed away peacefully at Arden Courts, Memory Care Community, Glen Ellyn, early Tuesday morning, June 27, 2023. Afflicted with Alzheimer’s for many years, only to wake in a celestial reunion with her beloved husband and daughter. Jean was born on April 10, 1940, in Geneva IL, the eldest daughter of Helen G. Motz (Chrystal) and Lawrence C. Motz. Living on the family farm, driving tractors, and working the fields alongside her family. She graduated from Kaneland High School in 1959. While working at Portable Electric Tools, Geneva, Il, Jean met her lifetime love and companion George W. Dow. Their dates took them to many different places from the bowling alley, Alfie’s Restaurant to walking the winding trails of the Starved Rock State Park. Six months later, on April 3, 1965, Jean and George were united in marriage at the Community Congregational Church in Elburn, IL. Jean worked as a Child Care Provided in their home for many many years, helping family and friends care and raise their children. Throughout her life, Jean had many hobbies and pastimes including: her love of gardening, Sunflowers especially. Camping, which was much better in a camper than in a rainstorm in a tent. Jean enjoyed spending time with her siblings and many neighbors sitting around the kitchen table with a full cup of coffee, regardless of what time of day it was. Jean enjoyed many evenings with friends and family at the St. Charles Moose eating Fish Fry and playing Bingo. After the passing of her husband George, Jean would spend her days caring for and spending time with her 3 granddaughters, the pride and joy of her whole life. After the loss of her youngest daughter Lisa Kaczmarczyk (Dow) in September of 2021, to a courageous battle against cancer, Jean made sure that her youngest granddaughter, Regina Kaczmarczyk was her greatest priority. Jean is survived by her daughter Tina (Steve) Schwanebeck of Prescott, AZ. Her son-in-law, Brian Kaczmarczyk, DeKalb, IL. her four siblings, Barbara (LeRoy) Forth of Sycamore, IL. Judy (Leon) Forth of Elburn, IL. Claudia (Byron “Mikeâ€) Kaiser of DeKalb, IL and Lawrence “Bud†(Pat) Motz of Batavia, IL. Three grandchildren, Carli Schwanebeck, Denver CO, Cameron Schwanebeck, Belingham, WA. and Regina Kaczmarczyk, DeKalb, IL. Her 6 nieces and nephew, and several great and great great nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband and her youngest daughter. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn IL, followed by a funeral service to celebrate her life at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Blackberry Township Cemetery, Elburn.
