JOSEPH “JOE” KATREIN

Joseph “Joe” Katrein, 84, of Maple Park, formerly of Chandler, Arizona, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday, March 2, 2023.

Joe was born on November 2, 1938 in Ottawa, Illinois where he grew up and was taken in by a loving family who loved him like their son.

Joe served his country in the United States Air Force. He returned to civilian life and later met Carol Lou Bearden and that meeting would be the beginning of the next chapter of his life. Joe sold his motorcycle to buy a ring so he could ask Carol to be his loving wife. The two were united in marriage in August of 1959 and lived happily for 59 years. 

Joe was an entrepreneur; he had many companies throughout his lifetime; endingon a high note with his ceramic molding business. However, his favorite business was the time he spent being an auctioneer with his sons.

His career was his hobby, and he never let himself get bored with any task that he had to complete. When he did have some free time he loved to watch movies. Joe was a family man, and the love for his family was immeasurable.

Joe is survived by his two sons, Daniel (Jennifer) Katrein and David (Brenda) Katrein; his grandchildren: Andrew, Derek, Joshua, and Jessica; and his brother, Gary Katrein.

Joe is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol Lou Katrein.

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
