MARJORIE RUTH SARNA

MARJORIE RUTH SARNA

Date of Birth

August 4, 1948

Date of Death

February 19, 2023

Marjorie Ruth Sarna, 74, of Campton Hills, passed away unexpectedly on February 19, 2023.

Marjorie was born to loving parents Maurice and Ruth Wilson, on August 4, 1948, in Rockford, Illinois.

She was the oldest of 4 siblings that grew up in a small modest home in Rockford. She attended local schools.

Fate stepped in early when Marjorie met the love of her life, Joseph Sarna when she worked as a hostess at a doughnut shop owned by Joe’s father. Marjorie held court at the register, waited on customers and more importantly, waited for Joe to catch her eye. That would start a lifelong love affair which led them down the aisle on February 22, 1966 in Rockton, IL. They began their new life in Rockford and were blessed with two sons, Philip and Neil.

She enjoyed her time at Inland Fastener in West Chicago where she was the head secretary of the team.

Marjorie loved her family, and not a day would pass that she wouldn’t tell her husband, her sons, or her grandchildren that she loved them. Any chance that she could get to spend time with her family, she would take advantage of the time that she got. She loved to travel; her favorite place to go was the city that never sleeps, Las Vegas.  She loved the feeling that she got when she pulled a lever to a slot machine, at all the local casinos, as well as the boats that she loved to visit. Just like all who enjoy a game of chance, only her winning stories ever came to light.

Marjorie is survived by her sons, Phil (Celeste) Sarna and Neil Sarna; her grandchildren: Joseph, Vincent, and Nicholas (Charvee) Sarna, Kyle and Alexander Sarna; her siblings, Janet (Ron) Peterson and Keith (Maureen) Wilson; along with many nieces, nephews, and a community of friends.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph “Joe” Sarna; her parents, Maurice and Ruth Wilson; and her sister, Janice Schneider.

Marjorie’s family will hold a visitation in her honor on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 5-6:30 P.M at Conley Funeral Home 116 W Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119. A service will follow at 6:30 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Marjorie’s name. Checks may be made to the “Marjorie Sarna Memorial” and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, 60119. Tributes may also be forwarded to the same address, the Conley Funeral Home Facebook Page, or at www.conleycare.com.
