Date of BirthJuly 4, 1943 Date of DeathOctober 20, 2023 Marvin “Mike†Myers, age 80, of Campton Hills, IL, passed away suddenly, Friday, October 20, 2023. Gone without being able to say goodbye, Mike lives on in the hearts of all who loved him. He was born in Elizabeth, IL on the family farm, one of many children, all of whom were responsible to keep the farm in tip top shape, or as much as they could. Mike attended school in his small hometown and after graduation he returned to the farm. Mike married the daughter of a co-worker while working at Caterpillar in Montgomery. Jan caught Mike’s eye in an instant and soon a love blossomed into marriage. They were married on June 22, 1968, in Aurora, IL. They made their home in Montgomery for a time before moving to West Chicago. In 1978, the now growing family moved to Campton Hills where they continue to make wonderful memories. Eventually Mike would leave the farm behind and take up sheet metal working as a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union #265. There he would toil until 2003 when retirement called. Mike was dedicated to whatever job laid before him, his work ethic was forged in iron. He loved to spend time in his vegetable garden that brought a bounty each harvest. In the kitchen, Mike wowed his family with his grilling skills, always delivering mouthwatering dishes that begged for seconds. His lawn was meticulously mowed and equally admired. Mike liked to have a good time, especially if Johnny Cash was playing in the background. His generosity was often mentioned alongside the phrase “shirt off his back†as he was first in line to help anyone in need. No one loved his family more than Mike. He adored his three children and grandchildren and was a loyal and loving husband to his wife Jan for 55 years. He now leaves his loving wife Jan; three children: Mark Edward (Kim) Myers, Scot Eric Myers and Jennifer Lynn Myers; 4 grandchildren: Ashley Myers, Amanda Myers, Olivia Wenberg and Gage Michael Wenberg; one great-granddaughter, Aubrey Myers; three siblings: Connie Steffen, Marilyn (Jerry) Freese and Carol (Bruce) Kloepping; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a countryside full of friends.
