MICHAEL J. HARNACK

Harnack, 74, of Kaneville Illinois died peacefully on September 30, 2022 with his long term partner, Pam Smith of Plainfield, Illinois at his side. In keeping with Michael’s wishes, a celebration of his life is planned. Michael’s numerous interests and passions ran the gamut from his amazing career in computer science, as a forerunner in data communications, and many entrepreneurial endeavors. His love for restoration of vintage automobiles and engines to drag racing and other car-related hobbies made him a popular sight and friend at many car shows and racing events. As a 43-year resident of Kaneville he was also a familiar sight at community events, many times in one of his restored vehicles. Michael loved music and gardening and also found a passion for target shooting and pursued that hobby for several years. After a nearly seven year battle with cancer, during which he participated in clinical trials to provide data for those after him, Michael was with Unity Hospice at home and was visited by many family and friends before his passing. He is survived by: Brother Steve (Mandy Bajek) and niece Serena of Tennessee; Pam and her family, Meredith (Will Perkinson), Melanie Sus (Jared Jankoski) and grandchildren Collin, Emmett, Will and Noelle; English cousin Jen (Liddy) and Mick Sadler and their family; and numerous cousins and friends in the US and England. Michael is preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Edna(Partridge) and Alexander Harnack of Willow Springs and his wife Cynthia (Rector).
