RENEE MEDERNACH

RENEE MEDERNACH

Date of Birth

September 24, 1964

Date of Death

June 30, 2022

Renee M. Medernach, age 57, of DeKalb, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 30, 2022, after a valiant battle with cancer, but now claims the promise of her Savior.

She was born September 24, 1964, in Sycamore, IL, to loving parents, Nicholas and Myrtle Medernach.

Renee grew up in Virgil on the family farm. She attended local schools and graduated from Kaneland High School with the class of 1982.

While in school, Renee worked at McDonalds and later Handi-Kup, later known as Winn Cup. Pillsbury was her next stop before working for Builders Plumbing. In recent years, she was a senior teller at The State Bank of Geneva.

Renee had a heart for crafts and the hands to build them. Board games, cards and fishing rounded out her hobbies. Weekends brought her to Sycamore Speedway where she worked the cleanup crew from the age of 10. Her nieces and nephews meant the world to her. She would drop anything to come to their aid or be the first in line to cheer them on in whatever they were doing. Renee was friends with anyone and everyone, but especially those with four paws. Everyone was welcome to ride with her on the four-wheeler with the wind carrying on the smiles and good times. Renee specialized in holiday cheer and shared it freely, but none held the top spot like Halloween.  When it came to sports, none cheered louder for the Chicago Blackhawks than Renee. She was known to lift up those around her, offering the kind of support and caring that you can’t find in many people or many places, and her laugh was as infectious as it was uncontrollable. She loved movies of all kinds but loved them more when she could watch with family and friends. The happiest memories were made with family, and it is those memories that will remain as her legacy.

She is survived by her mother, Myrtle Medernach; Jose Rojas, the love of her life; five siblings: Jim Medernach, Nick (Nylietta Rosenfeld) Medernach, Debra “Debbie” (Joel) Hernandez, Margaret Medernach, Edward “Ed” Medernach; 5 nieces and nephews: Christopher (Joy) Ramos,  Crystal (Paul) Donahue, Candida Hernandez, Travis (Sarah) Medernach and Joel (Kayli Hubbs)  Hernandez; many great-nieces and nephews; a cousin/big brother, Richard “Rick” (Barb) Jump and their children, Chad and Tony; an aunt and uncle, Richard and Nellie Jump, and a family of friends.

She now joins her father, Nicholas Medernach; two brothers: Ivan and Edward Medernach; sister-in-law, Angie Medernach; two nieces: Victoria Medernach and Jennifer Medernach and many aunts, uncles and cousins who preceded her in death.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 4-8 p.m., with Rosary and Remembrance to begin at 7:30 p.m., at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St. Elburn, IL 60119. A Mass to celebrate her faith will be Wednesday, July 6, at 11 a.m., at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Virgil, IL. Private family burial will follow cremation at a later date.
