SHERRY ROBINSON

SHERRY ROBINSON

Date of Birth

March 19, 1939

Date of Death

December 2, 2022

Sherry Robinson, age 83, of Sugar Grove, claimed the promise of her Savior Friday, December 2, 2022.

She was born March 19, 1939, in Andrews, NC, to proud and loving parents, Paul and Jessie Franklin.

Sherry grew up in Maryville, TN, and attended local schools. She was a constant on the sidelines as one of the cheerleaders before graduating from Friendsville High School with the class of 1957.

Charles Robinson spotted Sherry as early as first grade, but the two didn’t become an item until after high school in 1960. After a whirlwind courtship, they were united in marriage on September 3, 1961, and made their home in Maryville. A year later they moved to Alcoa for a time, and as their family grew, they found a home up north in Oswego, IL in 1964. They would finally settle in Sugar Grove in 1971.

Over the years, Sherry worked as a cashier, hostess and store manager at the Stop N’ Go grocery store in Sugar Grove, sharing her trademark charm and friendly smiles.

Sherry and Charles were faithful members of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.

Sherry was an avid gardener with an amazing green thumb. Countless harvests filled the shelves with cans galore every fall, and beautiful flowers grew under her thoughtful care. The kitchen was always filled with the aromas of family favorites life banana pudding, fried apples, pecan pie, not to mention her famous peanut butter cookies. When the ladies league came together at the bowling alley, the thunder of crashing pins surrounded Sherry and her teammates. If there was ever someone in competition with Charles, it was her beloved Elvis that never failed to get her toes tapping. While she loved her coin collection, Sherry’s grandchildren became her most prized possessions. She followed all of their activities and found time to make each one feel special.

She now leaves her loving husband Charles Robinson; two sons: Doug (Maureen) Robinson and Patrick “Kelly” (Carrie) Robinson; four grandchildren: Doug (Christina) Robinson, Jon (Amy) Robinson, Alicia (Edward) Webster and Krystal Robinson; 8 great-grandchildren: Gavin, Cole, Fitz and Cal Robinson, Logan Weinstock, Ava, Ashton and Levi Morones; two siblings: Ray Keith (Judy) Franklin and Jean (Willis) Campbell; many nieces, nephews and a community of friends.

Sherry is reunited with her parents, Paul and Jessie Franklin who preceded her in death.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, https://donate3.cancer.org or the Alzheimer’s Association, http://act.alz.org/goto/sherryrobinson. Memories and tributes may be left on the Conley Funeral Home Facebook Page, or at www.conleycare.com.
