Sixta Tulia Gutierrez, age 96, of St. Charles, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at home with her loving family by her side.
She was born November 30, 1928, in Colombia, South America. Her parents were Jorge and Ester Otalora.
She was married at the age of 20 to Jaime Gutierrez. They celebrated 65 years of marriage prior to Jaime’s death in 2014. We honor Lita’s life, love, and lasting influence. She was a nurturing, faithful woman who created a warm, comforting home full of kindness and peace. Through her actions—raising children, knitting with care, praying with devotion, and offering comfort—she sowed love that touched many lives. Her legacy is not measured in wealth but in the deep, lasting impact of her compassion and faith.
Sixta is survived by her ten children; Oscar (Sharon), Jorge (Christine), Hernan (Jaymee), Jaime Jr. (Lenore), Carlos (Judy), Walt (Mary), Magda (Eric Schwartz) Wesslund, Ernesto (Heidi), Dario (Kymm), and Liliana (Robert) Bates
Twenty three grandchildren; Natasha (Christian) Oeklerking, Oscar Jr. (Jill), Patrick (Hailey), Jennifer (Will) Nix, Julie (Stephen) Schulze, Anthony (Stacy), Timothy (Gretchen), Daniel (Tammy), Steven (Erin), Christopher (Natalie), Brian (Aleksandra), Victoria (Nicholas) Pierce, Andrea (Bryan) LaDow, Isabel, Sean (Laura) Wesslund, Marissa Wesslund, Taylor (Dylan) Payne, Paige (Zachary) James, Stefanie (Joseph) Carusso, Christina (Trevor) Huber, Dario Antonio, Zachary (Maryjane) Bates, and Joanna Bates
Thirty three great-grandchildren; Miranda, Jacob, Sadie, Tyler Gabriella, Greyson, Gemma, Amelia, Grady, Taryn, Emma, Walker, Winnie, Samantha, Troy, Eliana, Fiona, Finn, Anderson, Neal, Elliot, Anthony, Pierce, Sophia, Elinor, Grace, Carson, Rocco, and Luca, Joseph, Jaime, Vivienne, Julietta; and manyother dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings and her husband Jaime.
