Steve Hitzemann
June 3, 1965 - February 22, 2026 Steve Hitzemann, age 60, of Wheaton died Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Accent Care in Naperville, Illinois. He was born June 3, 1965 in Melrose Park, Illinois to Raymond and Sharon Hitzemann Steve is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane, two daughters, Sarah (Bryce) Krause and Rachel (Fiancé Austin Tillema) Hitzemann, his parents, a brother, Dan (Chris) Hitzemann and many nieces and nephews. In high school, Steve developed a love of board games. He enjoyed playing solo war games, which would often take months to complete. However, his favorite games were any he got to play with his family. On a nice day you could find Steve camping, hiking, gardening or just being outside enjoying nature. Many of his favorite vacations involved trips to National Parks. As an avid US history buff, those vacations also involved visiting historical places. If you asked Steve, the best decision he ever made was marrying Diane. As best friends and life partners, they enjoyed doing everything together. Whether it was sitting shoulder to shoulder at church, taking long weekend road trips, or just romantic walks through the hardware store, you could often find the two hand in hand with smiles on their faces. Their undying love was evident to everyone who saw it. Steve was a very present father. He enjoyed coaching his kids in soccer, flag football and softball. Steve also enjoyed racing RC cars with his daughters. He was tribe leader and on the chief council of Indian Princesses and the Glen Ellyn Softball president for numerous years. The love Steve had for his daughters also extended to his grand dogs, Zoey and Hazel. The dogs were always excited to see Grandpa, as they knew he would spoil them rotten. The excitement was mutual, as Steve would often plan adventures out and procuring special treats. Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 28th at Geneva Lutheran Church, Geneva. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at church.
