Terri Lynne Shepard October 16, 1958 ~ May 10, 2025 (age 66) 66 Years Old
Terri Lynne Shepard Obituary Terri Lynne Shepard, age 66, of Batavia, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Delnor Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born October 16, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Claude and Bonnie (Hughes) Hubbard. Terri was a friend and cheerleader to all. She loved fiercely and those she has left behind will never forget how her love made them feel. Her smile lit up every room she was in. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family & friends. She loved the Lord and the gospel of Jesus Christ and was an amazing example of serving others.  Terri was always passionate about education. When her children were all in school, Terri finished her bachelor’s degree, attained her Illinois teaching certification, and went on to earn her master’s degree, all while taking on the lion’s share of raising 7 children. Terri completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees with honors. She worked as an educator for 22 years and has positively influenced the lives of more than 3,000 students. Terri worked countless hours as a teacher, as well as a Student Activity Advisor. She led the National Honors Society for several years. Her husband feels strongly that Terri saved their family when John had his first heart attack and quadruple bypass open heart surgery. Terri was a key founder of the club “Empowered Women of the Future,” at her high school and labored for 7 years to empower girls to rise above difficult circumstances, learn from and connect with the community, and make a positive impact on the world. Terri applied for and received a $30k grant for the club, a grant that repeats yearly for 6 years even after she was to retire. The grant continues to be used for empowered career exploration with lunch and learns, activities, mentoring younger girls, summer camps, and internship scholarships. Through it all, Terri served as a volunteer and active member of her faith community throughout her life (in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), captaining her local women’s organization, the children’s organization, as well as leading the young women’s group. She was a Sunday school teacher, long-term choir director, organist, pianist, and most recently was working with the children’s Sunday school. Terri always shared her gift for teaching as she taught private flute and piano lessons for 20 years before teaching high school English. Terri cherished her role as a teacher and mentor.  Above all, Terri loved her family. She is survived by her beloved husband John of 42 years; children Hannah (Michael) Dimond of England, Emily (Seth) Wagner of Arkansas, Claire Shepard of Washington, Martha (Logan) Shepard-Smith of Canada, Jacob (Madeline) Shepard of Batavia, Trey Shepard of Utah, and Ashley (Dylan) Christensen of Nevada; grandchildren James, Abram, Griffin, and Roman Dimond, John and Henry Wagner, Eli and Sawyer Smith, Braxton and Zarahemla Christensen, and Essence Shepard; siblings Kelli (David) Ford of Utah, Diane Shepard of Ohio, Steve (Kim) Shepard of South Carolina, Linda (Mike) Rowley of Ohio, and Laura Shepard of Ohio.  She was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Bonnie Hubbard, mother-in-law Phyllis Shepard, brother-in-law James Shepard, and father-in-law Gene Shepard. A visitation for Terri Lynne will be held Friday, May, 16 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 4:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1320 Ridgeland Avenue, Naperville.
