ROB WENZ
Date of BirthMay 14, 1946 Date of DeathJune 6, 2024 Rob Wenz, 78, of Elburn, IL, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Rob was born on May 14, 1946 in Red Wing, Minnesota to Robert and Shirley Wenz (nee Balzer). Rob grew up in Kasson, Minnesota and attended local schools finishing his grade school education at Kasson-Mantorville High School. After graduating from High School, Rob attended University of Minnesota where he studied computer science which would aid him in his future endeavor of owning his own Internet based Technology Business. While traveling across the country, taking in the sites, Rob ended up in East Providence, Rhode Island in 1968. After he took a job working for the city he met and fell head over heels for Sharon Hannaford who was also working for the city. Rob knew right away that he wanted to marry Sharon and he eagerly pursued her. Sharon finally took him up on his invitation to go on a date and the rest was history. Rob and Sharon married on January 24, 1969 at First Baptist Church in East Providence. For many years Rob worked internationally designing and installing large main frame computer systems for a variety of companies. Rob loved technology even before the world was introduced to what we now commonly refer to as the computer. He prided himself on his in depth knowledge and expertise and dreamt of one day owning his own technology company. In 1998 dreams became reality when Rob opened the doors of VisionFriendly.com. Vision Friendly was Rob’s baby, his pride and joy, of course next to his children. He poured all of his energy and time into building the company and eventually had dozens of employees. While Rob and Sharon’s children were growing up, Rob coached numerous basketball and baseball teams. He even coached some of the teams that his children were on. He spent a lot of time and energy working with an Elburn committee working with the community to raise funds to help improve the Elburn Community Center. Rob loved Elburn and wanted to make sure that the families and children in his community had somewhere to come together. In Rob’s free time, he always worked to better his community. He donated his time and effort working together with his employees to create a website for Kaneland High School’s sports teams. He was an entrepreneur in many ways and liked to shake things up always coming up with new and creative ways to use his technology knowledge to better the lives of those around him. Rob was a man, father, husband, friend, and boss who loved fiercely and lived his life chasing his passions without rest. His family and friends are surely missing his vivacious take life by the horns way of living. Rob Wenz, a man who lived to better the lives of those he cared about most.
