William “Bill†Gates, age 80, of Sugar Grove, IL, passed away surrounded by the love and prayers of his family, in the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 5, 2022. He will be remembered for his love of trains of all kinds, whether they were chugging through the countryside, or model sized in his home. Bill was a passionate sports fan, cheering the loudest for his beloved Chicago Blackhawks and a Wisconsin football team that will not be named. NASCAR also was a staple on the television, cherishing the memories of Dale Earnhardt Sr., with every turn. His “fur-babiesâ€, a miniature greyhound and two King Charles Cavaliers, were his constant and loving four-legged companions. His laid-back nature belied a man whose love for his family was immeasurable, though he’d let you know through not a smile, but a smirk that spoke volumes. He is survived by his wife Susan Gates; two children: Sandra (Scott O’Neil) Krause and Timothy Gates; two grandchildren: Lexxus and Austin Gates; brother and sister, Howard (Tonie) Gates and Sharon Miller; a special sister-in-law Sandra Swan; several nieces, nephews and a family of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Ruth Gates; one brother, Vernon Gates; his in-laws, Cal and Alice Swan; one sister-in-law, Sharon Difazzio and brother-in-law, Steven Swan. Private family services will follow cremation at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
