William (Bill) Melvin McCowan
December 14, 1949 - March 18, 2025 William (Bill) Melvin McCowan, 75 passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 18th after a long and courageous battle against cancer. Born in Peoria, Illinois on December 14, 1949 to Melvin and Gertrude McCowan. Married to Sue Ann Ingerson on September 5, 1970. Bill cherished his family time and provided unconditional love and admiration for his wife Sue celebrating more than 54 years of marriage. His guidance, wisdom, to his children shaped their lives in immeasurable ways. He was their greatest advocate, a proud father and a constant source of strength and encouragement. Bill is a member of the Eure Christian Church and had an unwavering belief in the beauty of Heaven which brought peace and comfort to him and those around him, and he took solace in knowing that he was on a journey toward eternal life with the Lord. A proud member of the Caterpillar family for 37 years, contributing to the company’s success while forging lifelong friendships along the way that built a legacy and friendship we are thankful for. Achieved his Engineering degree from Purdue University, Lafayette, Indiana and Masters through Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois. Bill is survived by his wife, Sue McCowan, Children, Mike McCowan (Bridget) of Hinckley, IL. Lisa (Barry) Parker of Batavia, Il and Grandchildren; Riley, Reece, Ryan, Andrew and George Visitation will be held at Yurs Funeral Home in St. Charles Illinois on Tuesday, March 25th from 5:00-8:00 pm and Funeral services at Yurs on Wednesday, the 26th beginning at 10:00 am with graveside to follow at Union Cemetery in Saint Charles, IL.
