Carol (Volpe) Farmer

Obituary Carol Farmer, of Pepper Valley in Geneva, passed away Monday March 28, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born May 31, 1945, in Chicago, the daughter of Nicholas and Rose (Mizia) Volpe. Carol was a devoted mother to her only child, Alisa.  Widowed at a young age, she selflessly cared for her special needs daughter.  Carol worked for the Republican Party as a fundraiser and was the Kane County Guardian.  But she was proudest of being an advocate for the disabled.  She served on Illinois Governor Jim Edgar’s Committee for Special Needs Children, even testifying on their behalf before the U.S. Senate against mainstreaming them.  Carol was a devout Roman Catholic and member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Geneva, Illinois.  Her enduring faith and her church community helped support her through challenging times.  Carol’s great talent was music, and her friends and family will miss her beautiful singing voice.   She is survived by her daughter Alisa; sisters Mary (Greg) Pacelli of St. Charles and Cynthia “Cindy” (Jay) Price of San Francisco, California; nephews Jay (Brooke) Pacelli, Brent Pacelli, Arthur (Carrie) Price, and Alex Price; niece Deanna (Joel Blecha) Pacelli; five great-nieces; two great-nephews; and many friends.  Carol was preceded in death by her loving parents and her husband Dr. Terry Ryan Farmer who passed away in 1978.  Funeral Mass will be held privately at St. Peter Catholic Church in Geneva with Father Jonathan Bakkelund, Celebrant.  Interment will be held privately at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Geneva.  In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Alisa Farmers Group Home, The Arc of the Quad Cities Area, 4016 9th Street, Rock Island, IL 61201.      Arrangements handled by Malone Funeral Home in Geneva.  For information 630-232-8233 or www.malonefh.com.   To send flowers to Carol's family, please visit our floral store.
