Layman H. "Shane" Bronston, Jr. Obituary Layman H. “Shane” Bronston, age 88, of Geneva, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at home, with his loving family by his side. He was born November 8, 1936, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Layman and Eva (Lindgren) Bronston. Shane proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine and was a true citizen of the world.  He started his career in the space and missile industry and spent much time at Cape Canaveral.  He went on to start his own business which allowed him to be there for his family and travel the world. In his younger days he was an avid fisherman, golfer, and tennis player. His passions were his family, cooking (Swedish pancakes and Korv), enjoying a meal at Zaza’s, and regaling people with his China stories.    As a dedicated husband and father, he cherished his family and considered them his greatest accomplishment. His quick wit and playful quips kept those around him entertained, and his warmth and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he met.  He lived a life full of service, adventure, and love—and he lived it all with heart and humor. He is survived by his wife of 55  years Susan (Bohacek); daughters Stacey of Crystal Lake and Courtney (Kasey Kaehlert) of Arizona; siblings Linda (David) Riley of Iowa and Tom (Mary) Tilton of Florida; and many other dear relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Janet (Jim) Selleck. In honoring Shane’s wishes, his remembrance will be private.
